Promoting quality second language instruction in New Mexico

NM OLÉ is a nonprofit professional association for language teachers in New Mexico, dedicated to promoting the effective teaching of all languages. NM OLÉ is an affiliate of ACTFL (the American Council of Teachers of Foreign Languages) and SWCOLT (the Southwest Conference on Language Teaching).

NM OLÉ promotes second language instruction and the development of language programs within the State of New Mexico, provides a unified voice addressing issues of second language instruction, supports second language teachers and their professional development, and provides a forum for sharing ideas and concerns among second language teachers.

Membership in NM OLÉ  is open to anyone interested in foreign language education. Please visit our membership page to find out how to become a member.

NM OLÉ sponsors an annual conference each Fall and publishes a quarterly Newsletter. The Newsletter offers details on the Fall LIFT UP Conference, along with articles and news on grant and scholarship opportunities.

NM OLÉ offers one scholarship each year to a high school senior or a student enrolled in a post-secondary institution. The student must have participated in a second language activity, such as the Language Expo, national exam, etc... The nominating teacher must belong to NM OLÉ and a national foreign language organization and/or a local collaborative.

Each year NM OLÉ recognizes outstanding service and dedication to the language profession. Awards include the:

Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring an individual for lengthy and dedicated service to the foreign language profession;

Excellence in Teaching Award, recognizing a foreign language teacher who has demonstrated exceptional ability and outstanding performance in classroom instruction;
