Life Achievement Award

The recipient of this award shall have a minimum of twenty years as a second-language educator.  This person shall display excellence in classroom teaching and professional service.  His or her impact on second-language education should have been felt over an extended period of time, and affected a large number of individuals.  He or she should 
represent the higher standards of the second-language education profession.

The award may be conferred annually on an individual from within the language profession in New Mexico.  This person shall have worked in the second-language profession in New Mexico for at least 10 years.  Ineligible to receive the award are the current officers and Executive Board of NM OLÉ.

Nominees for the award should exemplify the following qualifications:
1. minimum of 20 years in second-language education in private or public sector, K-12, or post-secondary, or any combination.
2. currently nolding at least half-time position in second-language education or retired.
3. excellence, leadership, and influence in second-language education
4. service to school, community, and state, and to state, regional and national professional organizations

Outstanding Teacher Award

The recipient of this award shall have completed more than five years experience as a second-language educator.  This person shall have displayed excellence in classroom teaching.  The impact of the contribution to teaching shall have been felt over an extended period of time and this person shall have influenced a large number of individuals.  This person shall also have contributed significantly to professional organizations.

The award may be conferred annually on an individual from within the language teaching profession in the state of New Mexico.  Ineligible to receive the award are the current officers and Executive Board of NM OLÉ.

Nominees for the award should exemplify the following qualifications:

1. minimum of five years as a second-language educator, public or private sector, K-12, or post-secondary.
2. currently holding at least a half-time second-language teaching position in New Mexico.
3. excellence, leadership, and influence in language teaching.
4. professional dedication and enthusiasm

Creativity in Foreign Language Teaching Award

The recipient of this award shall have offered an original, creative work relating to the instruction of second-language or the promotion of second-language study.  His or her work may have been in published form or presented at a professional conference.  The quality of the work and its potential impact on second-language learning, teaching, or study shall comprise the principal criteria for selection.  The recipient shall be from New Mexico.  Ineligible to receive the award are the current officers and the Executive Board members of NM OLÉ.

Nominees for the award should exemplify the following qualifications:

1. must have offered outstanding leadership in promoting the study of second-language in his/her institution, community, or in the state of New Mexico.
2. must have given exceptional support for second-language programs in his/her institution, community, or in the state of New Mexico.
